Antonio Zanussi founded the Zanussi Company in Pordenone in Italy in 1916. It was initially an unassuming workshop, but soon became a large industrial enterprise with a vast assortment of household appliances. In 1950, it was one of Italy's top manufacturers. The company continued to expand during the 1960s, with the purchase of the Becchi, Castor, Zoppas and Triplex brands, and also with the establishment of a design and research center.
